He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
Micah 6:8
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
We are all in the ministry, and we are all full-time. Have you ever noticed a distinct man-made separation between the secular and the sacred in the Church? I remember going to summer camp in high school and seeing kids that were called into “ministry” being elevated over those who were not. It made me feel like a second-class citizen of the Kingdom. Maybe you have been in a situation like that too. At that time, I did not understand that the heart of God is for all of us to minister in whatever we do for a living, and no one is elevated by what their vocation is. The Lord has been showing me over the years that our calling relates to a specific gift or a certain mission or a lifestyle, but it doesn’t relate to a “man-made ministry.” Whatever we are called to, there is a lifestyle in the spirit being set aside for us, and there are gifts and anointings that God wants to bestow upon us so that we can do the best job possible in partnership with Jesus. Your destiny is how you partner with God in walking out that anointing on your life. So, let’s take a look at what the Bible says about our responsibility as a co-heir with Christ.
What was the Original Intention of God for the Earth and for Man?
If we turn to the book of Genesis, we read that God made the universe, constellations, the earth, and man; and called all that He created good. Then, He put Adam in charge of a place on the earth called Eden. Do not miss this: Adam was in charge. This was the original will of God, Plan A. However, there were conditions to this partnership. Adam was told not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but he disobeyed. That was when the will of man was inserted above God’s perfect will.
If God is truly all knowing, then we can agree that He created the world knowing that Adam was going to make the wrong choice. So why did God not intervene? He did not intervene because He had set up limitations for Himself called free will. Our Creator did not want robots, instead, He desired relationship. And He still desires relationship with His children. So, what happened that day that sin entered the Garden? In a nutshell, Adam gave up his responsibility and handed over the keys of authority to Satan. For thousands of years after this exchange of keys took place, the enemy has been using that authority to drive people away from building a relationship with God. Because of sin, people could not have a relationship with God. So, God chose a man named Abram and He built a covenant through him, and then continued His covenant with Moses. But there was a disconnect between God and man that had not yet been restored. Well, that is up until about two-thousand years ago.
We Are God’s Coworkers
Jesus came to restore God’s will. He got the keys back from Satan and, and Jesus handed them over to you when you accepted salvation and were water baptized. Now we have authority over the enemy. God desires for His disciples to enforce authority in their lives and in the world around them. We are now His coworkers. This is good news! We are His Plan A. This Plan A is for ordinary people like you and me to wholeheartedly believe in the victory of Calvary [to be convinced that it was complete and final], and to rise in our role as sent ones, ambassadors, authorized representatives of the Victor.
We are ambassadors of the Anointed One who carry the message of Christ to the world, as though God were tenderly pleading with them directly through our lips. So we tenderly plead with you on Christ’s behalf, “Turn back to God and be reconciled to him.”
2nd Corinthians 5:20
What does this look like?
A couple months ago, I started working for Instacart to make a little extra money. It doesn’t seem like a big deal to deliver groceries to people, right? That couldn’t possibly become a ministry…or could it? God showed me that He wanted to use me in this specific job to minister to others. It has become a training ground for intercession, practicing the prophetic gift, and learning spiritual warfare. I pray for each family that I am delivering the groceries to. God shows me specific words of knowledge for each person, and I pray through those words with the help of Holy Spirit. The first thing I pray for is that if they do not know Jesus, that God would reveal His Son to them and that they would accept Him as their Lord and Savior. I plead the blood of Jesus over their property, bank accounts, body, workplace, and calling. Then, I activate the angels assigned to them to clear the property of any evil spirits that would prevent them from knowing God and operating in the calling God has for their lives. There have also been times when the Lord leads me to enforcing the stake of “vav” into the ground at their homes (you can read more about this in the previous post). It has truly become an incredible opportunity to reach people where they live and clear the way for them to enter the Kingdom. One night when I was driving through my city, the Holy Spirit recalled the vehicle that I was driving.
An interceptor.
And as I was praying for families of the homes I was delivering groceries to, Holy Spirit showed me the way my prayers were infiltrating Satan’s networks without him even knowing it. I am going undercover in the spirit realm which aligns with a prophetic word that was released over me last year. In those moments of intercession God’s presence is more tangible than I have ever felt it before. I am doing exactly what He called me to do! This is where God wants me, and I’m getting paid to do it! What a gift.
In tent revivals back in the day, people would bring items belonging to the unsaved and pray over them and the person would end up coming to the revival! They would get saved, healed, and delivered from that interaction of prayer over material things! So, as I am praying over their grocery items it is not just some superstitious hope, it is powerful and effective, anointed prayer that God is hearing and activating.
What is Your Mission Field?
Plan B happens when we choose our will over God’s. It happens when we waste the Cross; when we leave those in bonds by the Devil in their bondages and choose to remain in a belief system of hopelessness. That is not for us! No, let us participate as God’s Plan A coworkers. He is looking for laborers. If you are tired of seeing death and destruction in our world today, then I have good news for you! You are God’s solution, the light of the world. You can shine God’s marvelous chain-breaking light to a world that is full of deep darkness. I would encourage you to make the decision today to be His coworkers in your day-to-day life. Below is a prayer that will activate your calling to be a light wherever you go.
Prayer:
Thank you, Lord, for the truth of your word that was revealed to me through the gospel of Jesus Christ. I desire to be your coworker today but need your help in turning this desire into personal application. Show me today how I may work with you to enforce authority in my life. I invite you to interrupt my day so that I may do your will and walk in the good plan that you have for me. Amen.
More scriptures about this topic:
But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.
Matthew 6:33
Only, let each one live the life which the Lord has assigned him, and to which God has called him [for each person is unique and is accountable for his choices and conduct, let him walk in this way].
1 Corinthians 7:17
As a prisoner of the Lord, I plead with you to walk holy, in a way that is suitable to your high rank, given to you in your divine calling. With tender humility and quiet patience, always demonstrate gentleness and generous love toward one another, especially toward those who may try your patience. Be faithful to guard the sweet harmony of the Holy Spirit among you in the bonds of peace, being one body and one spirit, as you were all called into the same glorious hope of divine destiny. For the Lord God is one, and so are we, for we share in one faith, one baptism, and one Father. 6 And he is the perfect Father who leads us all, works through us all, and lives in us all!
Ephesians 4:1-6
Who is this one?
Song of Songs 8:5-7
She arises out of her desert, clinging to her beloved.
When I awakened you under the apple tree,
as you were feasting upon me,
I awakened your innermost being with the travail of birth
as you longed for more of me.
Fasten me upon your heart as a seal of fire forevermore.
This living, consuming flame
will seal you as my prisoner of love.
My passion is stronger
than the chains of death and the grave,
all consuming as the very flashes of fire
from the burning heart of God.
Place this fierce, unrelenting fire over your entire being.
Rivers of pain and persecution
will never extinguish this flame.
Endless floods will be unable
to quench this raging fire that burns within you.
Everything will be consumed.
It will stop at nothing
as you yield everything to this furious fire
until it won’t even seem to you like a sacrifice anymore.
