Jesus is Restoring Identity

A Prophetic Call to the Church and to You

There is a battle raging in our generation, and it is not primarily over behavior, politics, or culture.

It is a battle over identity.

In the latest episode of the You Are My Witnesses podcast, we step into one of the most urgent and prophetic conversations for the Church today: Who are we, and are we living from that place of truth?

This episode is not just teaching. It is a summons.

This episode of You Are My Witnesses calls believers to rightly see themselves—not just as carriers of truth, but as ministers of God’s prophetic truth.

You Are Not Watching the Kingdom — He has Called You to Release Prophetic Truth

Over the last several episodes of the podcast, we’ve been laying a foundation around our role as ministers of God’s truth.

  • Truth to ourselves
  • Truth to others
  • And now, truth within the Body of Christ

One of the most misunderstood ideas in the Church is prophetic truth. Prophetic truth is not something extra or strange—it is simply God’s truth that has not yet fully manifested on the earth.

If it is true in heaven, it is true.

God releases prophetic truth to bring heaven’s reality into earthly alignment.

The Gifts Are Powerful — But Maturity Is Essential

Scripture tells us that all the gifts of the Spirit come from one source: the Holy Spirit. They are given to build up the Body and to glorify Jesus, not to elevate individuals.

However, gifts alone are not a sign of maturity.

Spiritual maturity is measured by love.

Not sentimental love. Not people-pleasing love, but Christlike love—love that rejoices in truth and is willing to lay itself down.

Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 13 that maturity looks like putting away childish things. A mature believer is one who increasingly reflects the selfless nature of Jesus.

Clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.”

-Colossians 3:14

We are not solo performers—we are a symphony. Each believer is an instrument in God’s orchestra, and love is what keeps us in tune. Without love, prophetic truth becomes noise instead of music.

Jesus made this unmistakably clear:

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you… By this all people will know that you are my disciples.”

– John 13:34–35

This is not comfortable love. This is cross-shaped love. Love that lays itself down. Love that stays connected to the Vine.

Stay Connected to the Vine

So often we try to manufacture fruit instead of abiding.

“I am the vine; you are the branches… apart from me you can do nothing.”

– John 15:5

Fruit is not produced by effort—it flows from intimacy. When we stay connected to Jesus, fruit becomes inevitable.

This connection is also how we experience the fullness of the Holy Spirit, described in Scripture as the sevenfold Spirit of God:

“The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him—the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.”

– Isaiah 11:2

The Seven Manifestations of the Holy Spirit

Isaiah 11 reveals something profound about the Holy Spirit: He is one Spirit revealed through seven manifestations.

  • The Spirit of the Lord – God’s presence and authority resting on believers
  • Wisdom – Divine insight for godly decisions
  • Understanding – Revelation of God’s ways and truth
  • Counsel – Strategic guidance for God’s purposes
  • Might (Power) – Strength to do the works of God
  • Knowledge – Access to God’s heart and His story over people
  • Fear of the Lord – Reverence that guards holiness and integrity

Together, they mature us from saved believers into accountable representatives of the Kingdom of God.

This is not a transactional relationship. This is a habitation relationship. God is no longer visiting—He is dwelling.

Logos and Rhema: We Need Both

The Bible is essential. It anchors us. It guards us. But we also need a relationship with the Author.

  • Logos: the written Word of God
  • Rhema: the spoken, living Word applied by the Spirit

When it comes to identity, both are critical—because identity is the most attacked aspect of a believer’s life.

Suffering distorts perspective. Pain lingers, and suddenly who God is—and who we are—can become unclear.

That is why Scripture calls us to be like the Bereans:

“They examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.”

– Acts 17:11

Every prophetic word about identity must be tested against God’s Word.

Identity Is Under Relentless Attack

In seasons of suffering, pain, or confusion, identity is often the first thing assaulted. When our view of God becomes distorted, our understanding of who we are quickly follows. This is why identity is one of the most attacked areas in our culture today. In Scripture, God identifies us clearly:

We are His witnesses.

Our identity is not optional, it is the core of who we are and whose we are.

Start where you are—your home, your family, your everyday conversations. Speak what God says, even before you see it. To read more about your identity in Christ, pick up a copy of my devotional book, Now My Eyes See You (available on Amazon).

A Vision of Identity Theft

During a season of deep suffering and physical illness in 2017, the Lord invited me not to seek His hand—but His face. It was in that place that He gave me a vision that forever changed how I understand identity.

I saw countless people lined up, eyes glazed, shoulders slumped. Beside them walked a dark figure—Satan—holding a bloodied machete. One by one, people laid their heads on a stone block. Their heads were removed—and yet their bodies stood up and continued on.

They entered another line, where demonic beings placed counterfeit heads on them.

I was then taken into a massive dungeon—Satan’s trophy room—where shelves were filled not with books, but with faces. These faces cried out to be restored to their bodies.

Then Jesus entered.

He picked up a head, prayed, removed the counterfeit, and restored the rightful one.

There were no scars. No residue. Complete restoration.

And the Lord said:

“When my people pray, this will happen.”

Intercession and prophetic truth work together to restore identity.

There is a door of identity—and His name is Jesus.

Many are lost in addiction, confusion, and counterfeit identities. But there is hope.

Yet the decision to walk through it must be theirs.

A Word for the Church: Are We Still Attached to the Head?

This vision is not only personal—it is corporate.

Christ is the head of the church, his body (Colossians 1:18). If Jesus is the Head, where is the Body attached?

Despite headlines of compromise and failure, God’s prophetic truth remains: He is restoring His Church to purity and holiness.

But distraction is blocking us.

I saw fishing boats prepared on the shore—nets ready—but the fishermen were absent. They were instead on a cruise ship, being entertained.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a net that was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind.”

– Matthew 13:47

A net doesn’t catch fish on its own. Someone must throw it.

Get Out of the Cruise Boat

Jesus already gave us our identity:

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses.” (Acts 1:8)

You don’t need a title. You don’t need permission.

You just need to get in the boat.

It’s you and Jesus—and that is enough.

Ask the Lord as you listen:

  • Where have I traded identity for comfort?
  • Am I abiding or performing?
  • Am I in the boat, ready with His net?

A Call to Alignment

There is a shift in the air.

God is calling His people out of entertainment Christianity and into surrendered obedience. Identity settled. Authority embraced. Assignment accepted.

When identity is settled, fear loses. When identity is secure, compromise no longer appeals.

You are not an observer of the Kingdom.

You are His witness.

Go into your home, your workplace, your neighborhood—and let your life answer the question:

Who do you belong to?

You are His.

And that changes everything.
